I'm on baseband 04.26.08, running unlocked on T-Mobile, firmware 3.0. I'm planning on upgrading to 3.1.2 over the weekend and was wondering if there was any advantage (besides the carrier bug issue) to upgrading to 05.11.07 and using Blacksn0w over just using a Pwnage Tool created IPSW and preserving my current baseband?
I haven't heard of any performance upgrades or resolved issues with the latest baseband and since I know Ultrasn0w is working for me perfectly I'd rather just...well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? :P
I have personally set two 3GS's both unlocked side by side. One running ultra (4.26) and the other black (5.11) I made calls and just sat and watched the the bars. There's absolutely no difference in performance. The only difference is if you are running ultra with a custom ipsw on 3.1 or 3.1.2 then carrier will be missing... idk how important that is to you but for me it's really not important so I haven't bothered upgrading the bb on my other phone.

Is not worth it because 3.1 had the wifi problem. I have to reset internet everytime when wifi is not working. You will regret it if you upgrade it. We guarentee it
nope. Everything works properly except YouTube and Push (due to hacktivation), but theres already a fix for that. I remember having this problem with ultrasn0w awhile back and removing then reinstalling fixed the issue. If that doesn't solve your issue try a fresh restore, that might help.

I had no problems with wifi with the new fw/bb... tho i would assume the only reason they even updated the BB was to close the exploit that ultrasnow was using.. I wouldnt bet on any improvements to it..
But since its been hacked.. I dont see the harm in updating now.. or any reason to either.. lol..
