Insight needed...

I'm sure this has to be posted somewhere else, and please don't tell me to do a google search or read through the forums more because I have tried both and haven't found anything telling me what I need to know. So, I had a 2g iPhone working without an iPhone data plan by just jailbreaking, unlocking, and hacktivating. That phone is ****ed, my bad. So i have a 3g I wanna get doing the same thing. I have jailbroke and unlocked using blackra1n and blacksn0w (thank you geohot!). Should that work the same? I'm not gonna find out for awhile since I have a 3gs with a legit att plan. I just wanna make sure everything will run smoothly when I do. Somebody has to have done what I need to happen. Any input appreciated. Thank you

If you can download apps from Cydia and they work okay, then that's a true test the Jailbreak is working.

It's impossible to tell about the unlock without trying it. Can you not borrow a mates SIM and see how it works?

You said you won't be needing the unlock for "a while" so it's probably not worth worrying about.

Odds are that before you need it there'll be further updates to both the OS and the BB so you're only going to have to go through the whole process again anyway!

If you can get cydia/rock installed on your 3g, then the JB worked...

As for the unlock.. The only problems i have heard about it is some wifi issues.. So i would assume the unlock works... im in the same position, using a legit carrier so cant really test it myself (especially in canada, only 1 GSM provider atm and thats the official one) Havent really heard of anyone saying it doesnt work..

Yea I definitely know the jailbreak worked, I have a 3gs that is jailbroken on a legit att plan, and i would try one of my friends sim cars but they're all on verizon or sprint. And by awhile i mean about a week, its for a family member who doesn't wanna pay the iphone data charges. I just remember loading a hacked lockdwnd file in order to get the old 2g to work, is that necessary on a 3g?

you can turn 3g (and edge with sbsettings)off on the iPhone.. so you can decide how you want data managed on the phone..
