My one still works fine, but intermittently loosing signal for few seconds. I just have to live with this until fix (if ever released)
I'm using mine in t-mobile uk. Mind you, t-mobile secretly selling iphones to only current customers.

Bloody iPhone
Hi,
Experiencing the same issues, My iPhone is jailbroken with blackra1n and unlocked with blacksnow and I'm using Orange as a carrier within the UK.
WIFI works fine and so do calls until I loose a signal, then I have to insert my SIM into my old phone and then back into my iPhone and boom! A full signal.
I've just returned from Amsterdam where I used my Orange UK SIM and iPhone connected to a Dutch carrier experiencing no problems at all even when I lost signal.
Why would this happen?
Cheers

I just unlocked mine from o2 and it is officially unlocked, but I am still experiencing unstable signal strength. I will keep this monitored and let you know of any improvements.

These two threads seem to be connected - similar issues... Blacksn0w unlock worked but when lose signal it does not pick network back up

Of course the two threads are connected... page one and page two of the same thread!
I have a similar type issue... 3GS, FW 3.1.2 on AT&T in the states... intermittently, while im on the phone or running some app, my signal will drop out from full bars to no bars, and then after a few seconds (and a dropped call or interrupted app process) resume back to full bars. no one seems to have an answer to the issue anywhere, but i've been experiementing and found that after a full restore, all is fine and dandy after it is blackra1n (RC3) flashed (jailbroken), and installing cydia and rock seem to be great. But as soon as i do the unlock with blacksn0w, the signal drops return. i'm wondering if a different unlock will solve the issue. i was hoping not to, but i guess i may have to fork out the dough for a paid unlock program. let me know if you guys experience the same, and if you have any suggestions on another good unlock.

What paid unlock program are you referring to? I was going to donate - but since blacksn0w doesn't work (at least for my iphone), i'm happy to put money somewhere else...

I don't have a particular one in mind. If you do a quick Google search, a few pop up and they seem to be in the $20-25 range.

same problem here... got so fed up i restored and didn't re-unlock... just jb with blackra1n... blacksn0w too unstable... although did work fine with a friend's T-Mo SIM
model: 3GS 32GB
carrier: AT&T
firmware: 3.1.2
baseband: 05.11.07
build week: 25 (so no issues with 'tethered' jb)
the signal drop was clearly due to blacksn0w, as since I've restored, and installed blackra1n, but not blacksn0w... the problem is gone completely... SOLID signal, no drops, no "no service" message... which was random yet consistent with blacksn0w installed...
hopefully a fix comes for this from geo, or the dev team releases a more stable unlock...
for now, since i have no immediate need to unlock, other than for traveling... i'll wait until a more stable unlock appears...
cheers
careful... you might end up just getting someone doing blacksn0w on your phone and charging you for it... then you'll be stuck with a) less money and b) a phone with the same problem you are precisely trying to avoid

Same problems with you all, no signal for all sim that I tried: carrier appears but one bar then nothing. Tried many ways but still stuck.
Im using 3gs 16gb fw3.1.2 bb5.11.07 orange UK
Forgot Im in w45 w/new iboot :-)

iboot shouldn't effect the unlock...
Did you try putting the phone in airplane mode for a little bit, then turning airplane mode off?
Also, are the SIM's activated? I have some old AT&T sims that are not activated, and when I put them into my AT&T iPhone, locked, or unlocked, it will never get a signal, because it isn't active on AT&T. So try them in another GSM phone, and if it dont work, then it is the SIM.

Hi All. Has anyone found a fix for this problem yet? I have searched forums etc averywhere and no one seems to have a solution yet. I have unlocked several iphones and they have all worked with vodaphone etc in the UK however the latest one cannot get a signal. It all unlocks OK the carrier name appears but never gets a signal to make calls.
Version 3.1.2 baseband 5.11.07 used latest version of itunes, then used blackrain to jailbreak and then Sn0w. All procedures worked and it accepts sim. Just need to get a signal.
Please let us know if anyone has found a fix.

May have found a temp fix
Right...
Hey fellow geeks
I have been watching this thread now for about a month and was experiencing exactly the same problems with my iPhone, i.e
I jail broke it with Blakra1n and then with Blacksn0w witch worked a treat. So my Orange UK sim is in it working awesomely...
But every time i went into a grey area with no signal it wouldn't regain, to regain signal i have to put my sim in my girl friends phone wait for it to say "Orange" then swap it back.
Now i was mucking about and opened Blackra1n and uninstalled it (this does not un-jailbreak it btw) did a reboot. Turned off 3G and hey presto it works fine now... well at least for 3/4 days regardless of signal.
3/4 days i can handle better than when ever i go into a grey area.
Hope this helps and let me know either way.
If anyone else has any other ideas put them on here for us all
Cheers Moldy Banana!

No joy on most. I have tried your fix but alas it dosent work on most.
I have tried various sim cards in the newly unlocked phone and it will always show the carrier name but no signal. Its not the aerial / signal or anything because if I wipe the phone and restore it back to the original software (from apple) with a locked sim then it works fine. It only seems to have issues after using blackrain and Sn0w to unlock it, which seems to point to some kind of software issue.
Im totally bamboozled! Ive tried uninstalling blackrain, rebooting, installing new software etc.. etc.. HELP!
Any ideas would be great.
P.S. if you have an locked Iphone on O2 they will unlock it for you officially (retaining warranty). If you are pay as you go it costs £15 but if you are contract then its free. Just go to the help section on O2's site and go to the unlock my mobile part. Heres the link. All you do is enter your number and IMEI code. Wait about 6 days and then they will text you saying that it has been unlocked. The next time you sync with itunes you will get an official message telling you uour phone is now unlocked.

Orange UK will also do it now.
I have unlocked a new 3GS 32GB by calling them and asking them to unlock. It took 8 days to get the text but again as soon as synced with itunes the official message appeared. Hopefully other networks will also follow especially as Tesco and Vodafone UK are now doing them as well.
