Installed Blackra1n, and still the only call I can do is for emergency

hello guys, I'm new to the forum, let me say, its been lots of threads that have really helped me, as I am a novice in the iphone world.

Ok, my iphone is a 3g, 16gb, bought in USA, with at&t sim... I got the iphone sended to Spain (where I live), and wanted to unlock it.
We did the error of upgrading to 3.1, so it got unlocked.

Today, very nervious as I really was waiting for a solution like blackra1n......

I complete the installation of blackra1n through cidya, after that I again install blacksn0w from cidya too, restart the iphone, insert my sim card (which is from Orange), and inmediately the iphone says me insert my pin number, after that it appears in the screen, the itunes logo with the usb cable, reading that the sim is locked (like if I never realised that, lol....i've had the iphone locked for about 2 months or even more), anyways now all I see after installing blackra1n from cidya is the itunes logo with the usb cable, and the ¨ slide for emergency¨, so basically I am still the same as I was a couple of minutes before....I CAN'T SERIOUSLY BELIEVE I'M STILL WITH A BLOCKED IPHONE....I just have to laugh, by how bad luck I have...

Anyways, would be a good idea, to reset from factory the iphone?, will I loose the firmware, should I update to firmware 3.1.2....

Should I download pwnage tool 3.1.4 ??? what should I do???....I see all this people from youtube video responses that its so so easy to do, I just followed the steps of installing blackra1n from cidya, then installed again blacksn0w, and restart the iphone.....and still I can only do emergency calls.

Sohuld I restart from factory??

Blackra1n and blacksn0w are only going to work on the new 3.2.1. firmware. SO yes go ahead and restore your phone in iTunes and then run blackra1n to jailbreak and blacksn0w to unlock.

When you say 3.2.1 you mean 3.1.2 right?....

So basically all I need to do is update to 3.1.2 from itunes, and it should work?

Do I first remove blackra1n and blacksnow, before updating to 3.1.2???

I'm sorry, i need to make sure, before I transform my iphone into a much worse ¨brick¨ lol

Yes, 3.1.2 sorry, typed it wrong.
No need to remove anything, when you restore it will be set up as a new phone, then run the jailbreak and unlock if needed.

hello blkcadi, I dont know where else I can ask this, I am desperate and was even thinking of not posting for any help anymore and leave my iphone in my desk for ever !!!!....

I updated the firmware to 3.1.2 just like you said, no problems at all.
After that I inmediately follow to perfection this tutorial of blackra1n:

I followed all instructions from 0 in this video, which they where pretty easy, and I hoped that all was going to get resolved....installed blackra1n and then snow, exactly done as in the video for those who start from zero (just like me), and after that when everything is done correctly I insert my SIM card (from Orange) and STILL the iphone reads : ¨ Different SIM detected, please connect to itunes¨...and now all i can do is do emergency calls........i am totally sick about my iphone 3g 16gb. iT RUNS 3.1.2 firmware, baseband 5.11.7 bootloader 5.9

The good thing is, when by the time I inserted my SIM, in the emergency calls, it reads Orange 3G, BUT NOW, in that time, it appears a little box in the emergency call saying that a mobile phone with number 6xx-xxx-xxx has phoned me (like if it was a missed call), I was shocked!!!, how can I have received a missed call, when the iphone says the sim detected is locked, and I cannot exit the emergency call screen ....Its just unreal!!!!...


Now the much more worse news is....I decided to restore the Iphone with my Itunes, once it was done, now it still says me the sim card is locked when its inserted in the Iphone, and also its locked in the emergency call screen when my SIM CARD IS NOT INSERTED IN MY IPHONE..it reads ¨No SIM card card, to activate the iphone, insert a valid sim card that does not have a blocked PIN¨...So now I cannot even access to the iphone menu, while there is no SIM CARD INSERTED, NOTHING.

I NEED H.E.L.P, this is just 1 case out of one million.

Did you get help with this? I'm having a similar problem and I cannot find a solution!!! +(

My advice would be to close out programs on your computer and leave blackrain on the desktop. U should turn off 3g and edge if u were updating via sbsettings before the update. Put in dfu mode then try blackrain at this point try this if or restore in iTunes then close it start blackrain or try to downgrade to 3.1 or 3.0.1 or even 3.0 to get ur phone useable at least.

If you are using an older version of the firmware, 1st gen iphone, then you have to manually download ultrasnow.
I dont know, this is weird, so many people have to unlock it 100 different ways.
The way I did it took me 15 min (after screwing around with the phone for 2 days...lol) then it was all set.

i have a 3GS running 3.1.2 and I got it to work by doing the following:

1. Put an non AT&T sim in
2. Put phone in DFU (black screen)
3. Do a full restore with iTunes
4. Run blackra1n to jailbreak
5. Install Cydia/snow.

If your signal bar keep on searching, reboot your phone.
If you have problem with wifi/push/youtube, do the push fix.

I bought a 3GS online in spain that was restored back to factory settings. It is stuck on the Emergency Call screen and I just need to hacktivate it at this point (unlocking and jailbreaking are important to me, but I can wait until new exploits are released).

Since I can't access springboard, I don't know for sure what baseband it is running, I do know that it is on 3.1.3 firmware (through trial and error trying to get itunes to restore with a cooked 3.1.3 pwnage ipsw) with 359.3 iboot (found through System Profiler with phone in DFU mode).

I have been pwning/hacking/jailbreaking iphones for the last few years 1g/2g/3g and am usually pretty adept at this, but I can't even figure out where to start. And no clear info for this anywhere online.

In order to just activate the phone, i have been trying the following on my macbook: redsn0w, pwnage tool (with cooked 3.1.3 ipsw), and blackra1n (which tells me it has completed and even shows me the donation button, but doesn't show the Geohot image on the iphone screen while working and leaves the phone in reboot mode but never reboots).

I thought that Blackra1n would be the magic bullet and tried to download iReb to kick blackra1n out of the reboot mode (as i read elsewhere) but since I have a macbook and ireb is only windows right now, i'm still stuck.


I am in Barcelona and I have access to an official Movistar (the carrier in spain) iphone sim card that is still under contract, but I still can't activate the phone when I put it in, nor will it activate when i connect to itunes. I just want to get past the Emergency Call screen and then I'm golden from there.

Any help please??? I'm going crazy, spent days not eating much and sleeping too little, and just want to use the compass for the first time ever =)
