Unlocking Advice

Well firstly great to see that the test went well and the unlock is being released a day early for everyone. A huge thanks to Geohot and the rest of the community for this.

I just have some querys as this will be my first time unlocking in this fashion.

Im currently on 3.1 (Official Upgrade via Itunes) which i did mid September. I have not touched it since then, not even Jailbreaked at present.

Being excited i dont want to make any mistakes. So with this in mind can i get some help please

Do i need to upgrade to 3.1.2 via Itunes firstly? Do i get a custom ispw file to do so or is the official Itunes update ok?

After this is done is it then that i go to blackra1n and follow those instructions?

Basically what im wondering is do i update to 3.1.2 before attempting the jailbreak & unlock when it is released later today.

no it wont matter what you do as you have already upgraded to 3.1 so you will have the 5.11 baseband just upgrade to 3.12 and then use black ra1n to jailbreak and unlock

My GF has an Iphone 3G and currently jailbreaked and unlocked on 3.0

Im just curious if i should upgrade her too and update the baseband or would it be better that i not? Is there any major advancements of having 3.1.2 as aposed 3.0?

Any advice is greatly appreciated thanks!

i have iphone3gs with 3.1 ihave updated via itunes so my bb is 05.11.07 with 6.04 bootloader can unlock with blacksn0w plzzzzzzz replay me plzzzzzzzzzz

Well yes thats what the whole wait has been about. Nobody has been able to unlock 05.11.07.. Until now!

But thanks to Geohot and any others who have helped him by 5pm GMT today we will be able too.
You will need to update to 3.1.2 first for it to work.
