i am new to this, i own a 3GS from O2 uk. it is running 3.1 firmware. i want to jailbreak and unlock this phone,but dont know where to start and get it jailbreaked and unlocked. i know that i have to use blackra1n, but before that do i have to update the official 3.1.2 from itunes? if not then how do we do it. kindly help. i am new to this.
please......please......please help me.

Looks like he bought it from U.K O2 store and moved to a different location.


@OP You have to upgrade/jailbreak and then wait for 4th of november for an unlock.

OP you can currently jailbreak but not unlock. You will be able to unlock on Wednesday, once Blacksn0w is released.

To use Blackra1n you need to be running 3.1.2. There is no harm upgrading to 3.1.2 official for you ATM. You can upgrade to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak using Blackra1n.

In order to unlock once blacksn0w is released you're going to have to run a new version of blackra1n though. I'd recommend just putting the phone in a drawer for the next two days.
