how will this unlock work?
iv had a look around but haven't found any information. will this new unlock work the same as ultasnow? So you upgrade to 3.1.2 through itunes on apples firmware, no custom, jailbreak the iphone with blackrain, on reboot install cydia, then run cydia and search for the blacksnow source and install that way.
It does say on the write up geohot done that it will hacktivate the iphone, when will that happen in the process, will it happen in the background without the user seeing?
i dont know if anyone would actually know this yet but i thought id ask none the less.Last edited by macabre; 11-01-2009 at 06:33 AM.

I found this picture when checking geohot's twitter.

Explains a little bit i think.
can i just ask on a side note if there would be any noticable differences between activating the phone with a 02 sim and hactivating the phone. My iphone is on a fresh 3.1.2 restore on the activate screen. Should i activate with the sim card i have to hand or just hactivate?Last edited by macabre; 11-02-2009 at 05:59 AM.

Push won't work with hacktivation. Or at least, it hasn't. Geo may have found a way around that, I couldn't say.

Email is one use for push, yes. Push is a term that describes an "always on" connection where data can be instantly, well, "pushed" to your phone. Several apps use push for notification, for social interaction stuff, etc.
It won't work on a hacktivated phone because, well I forget exactly, something about a token not being signed or something. Anyway geo may have found a way around this, let me see if I can ask him...----
Cheers!
