Default iPhone 3gs activated at apple store with rogers now locked to fido :S

    So heres the problem:
My manager had an iphone 3gs and she took it in for warranty with apple.
She asked me to back up her phone which I did through itunes
She got the iphone 3gs at apple (they said that they come unlocked) and she put in her rogers sim card. Phone activated, full reception. everything works.
She plugs it at home or work in this case to itunes and instead of setting up the phone as a new phone, she restores from the itunes back up.
Everything is there but contacts so I restored it for her to factory settings and try to back up her contacts from her 3g iphone.
Once the 3gs iphone is done restoring, says "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported" which of course means that it doesn't recognize rogers anymore and it is locked to fido. It doesn't activate with rogers sim card but with fido it does. How is this possible if it was activated at apple store with rogers?

this is the 2nd iphone 3gs this has happened (she brought the first one back to apple because of the same problem and they gave her this one) Any ideas as to what we can do?

Last time I checked you can't buy an unlocked iPhone in canada...all phones are locked to either Rogers or fido.

the thing is that they were from factory unlocked (as they are the warranty replacement units) and once you put the sim in and activate it, its supposed to lock to that sim. which is what the apple dude told her. So very confusing and frustrating situation lol
