Unlocking 3GS 3.0.1

Hey guys, I recently purchased an iPhone 3GS with 3.0.1 OS and 4.26.08. I understand that this is unlockable and able to be jailbroken.

I have unlocked and jailbroken a 2G and a 3G recently with redsn0w but I have not seen a guide for the 3GS. Would redsn0w work with it? I know blackra1n jailbreaks 3.1.2 but I'd rather stick with 3.0.1, just to be safe.

So.. how can I jailbreak and unlock the 3GS? Thanks.

Blackrain will force you to update your baseband so do not use it.

There is a thread here that explains how to do it with a custom firmware created by a MAC user. Do not use blackrain!

I also saw some posts saying to use purplera1n and purplesn0w
