About the dEv team not accepting donations

I think i have an idea.

If they dont need or want money, why dont we send them other things.

Like bowls of fruit, or flowers. Baskets of kittens. Nice tasting yogurts. Maybe some sweets. some cloths shops vouchers.

I know id go for some kittens right now. I mean everyone likes kittens and whats better then being sent kittens for your hard work. Genius.

Errr, if any of my neighbours have lost a kitten it was nothing to do with my dog. He only eats Pedigree Chum.

If Money was an issue they would take Jody Sanders up on his offer of $10,000 - but as MuscleNerd says, he (Jody Sanders, not MN) has made many times that amount out of the Dev Team's work already.

Bit confused, why would you use an example of someone making a lot of money out of something as a way to explain why you dont want to make money out of something.

I can understand why they dont take money tho. If someone(or lots of people in this case) pays you for something then they expect it very soon and will keep pressurizing you to produce the goods. Buy not accepting payment then they can keep their say in what they develope.

The reason they don't take donations is so they don't OWE anyone ANYTHING. They can work as they please. If they took donations there would be hundreds of thousand of people harassing them on a daily basis for results. Do you think they'd enjoy their work/hobby under that kind of undue pressure? For those that keep putting Geohot above the Dev team... Geohot is a programming genius... no questions asked. It's not a competition.. it's just a fact of the matter.

The funny thing is there are people out there demanding a jailbreak/unlock. And they refuse to accept that it must be their own fault, not the Dev Team's fault. Not their own for buying a phone that can't be unlocked, not their own that they foolishly upgraded, not their own fault that they didn't know what to do.... What a bad Dev Team who have given so much......

Let's blame others without taking any responsibility for yourselves? Hmmm.

Hum donations don't mean you pay in order for them to work, it's just showing appreciation for the work ALREADY DONE.

I completely take responsibility for the fact that I knew what I was doing when I updated...never said it was someone elses fault.

Geohot finds an exploit and makes a jailbreak/unlock in a couple of days that is easy to use. Geohot really is the man. He said he could unlock the phone in a day when responding to the $10k offer. Holy **** he's soon gonna be loaded. I don't know why the Dev team are the ones who people look up to.

I agree, unfortunately the majority of people dont believe that way.....and would expect something. Most people dont care about actually showing appreciation

The devteam gets HOUNDED from people upset about not having solutions, this would only magnify considerably with donations.

Rightly said, I saw his interview on CNN. He is a whiz kid. HE posted long time back that he would unlock any **** apple produces inorder to block the unlock.

Surely, he is a gifted genius. Not to forget he was the FIRST person ON this planet to unlock the iphone, Dev-team just happened later and who knows, they might have taken inspiration from this guy itself. Also, Dev team has the cushion of good 4 to 5 coders, where as this guy is alone and does it a one man show always. Heck he is leagues ahead of the dev team and still some people here love to suck dev team's arses.

There is no doubt he is a genius but he's dropped the ball on this one.

Well I don't really see the big deal even if he does. Since what Jody has done for the past time is "stealing" Geohot's and Dev_team's hard work. So why not let him motivate Geohot's next move? I mean Jody are going to steal it again anyway. Also I doubt Geohot is doing it mainly for the money, it looks more like he uses it both as a challenge and a motivation for doing an unlock, which he had absolutely no intention of making the day before today. So do us all with a glorified ipod the favor and don't demotivate him please

. Since we already know you are connected to him.

I am not 'connected' to him. We chat sometimes. Whether he takes any notice of me at all is debatable. I certainly can't persuade him / dissuade him from anything from anything, all I can do is let him know what I think.

If he does not want my opinion he won't get in touch. Which is a distinct possibility. Just because I want to speak to him does not mean he necessarily wants to speak to me but if he's around he normally has the courtesy to humour me.

If i honestly were the DEV TEAM I would make this the last JB&UNLOCK for WINDOWS 3.1.2 BB 5.11.07 there after i would consider taking donations OR selling the JB UNLOCK for the next upgrade.
Lets not fool yourselfs OK, DEV TEAM are No1 in all aspects.
