Alright I'm pretty confused at this point. I ordered a new iphone 3g today and didn't get it in the mail yet. I used to have the first iPhone and you just activated it via iTunes at home. I've read somewhere online that now you have to get it activated at the store and cannot via itunes?

Is that true? And if so is there anyway to activate it via itunes if you must go to the store to do it?

Reason being I have like no credit and didn't want to pay a deposit so my sister is letting me use her as the account holder, but she lives in Connecticut so I'd have to fly to the east coast to activate it
