Activate 2G 3.1.2
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, but I'm having a bit of trouble. I've had my iPhone 2G for about a year and a half now, and I've used ZiPhone and redsn0w on different occasions to activate/jailbreak/unlock my iPhone 2G. However, I recently restored it due to some bug issues and now it's deactivated. Are there any suggested methods of how to reactivate/unlock it? I downloaded custom pwnage 3.1.2 2G, but I can't seem to use it since the phone is currently deactivated.
Any help would be IMMENSELY appreciated!

Do you have a mac or have access to a mac? Or an AT&T sim card? (a friend/family member?)

Cheers!

Hey, well I personally do not have a mac, but I know some friends who have them. Were you thinking of downloading pwnagetool on a mac and using it to activate/unlock it?
Also, I have an AT&T sim card, but the thing is that I am currently under a family plan with a company discount, and iPhones are not applicable to this discount. Therefore, I want to do it without using iTunes/AT&T. I was thinking that if I found someone with an iPhone, I could just use their sim card to activate it, as long as they have their billing address and last 4 digits to the billed credit card. Will that work?

You really dont need a Mac if you stay on 3.0.1 firmware.
Put the phone in DFU mode, hold shift, click restore to 3.0.1 firmware.
Then jailbreak and unlock with redsn0w 0.8 using the 2 bootloaders files to do the unlock. Then you can use any sim you want.

Once a phone has been upgraded to 3.1/.2, are there any issues DFUing back to 3.0 or 3.0.1? I've heard stories...

I've not had any problems on my 2G. Done it countless times.

I think the stories you've heard about refer to 3G's & 3GS's.
2G doesn't get the attention from Apple that the other two do.

I'm having a similar problem with a friend's iPhone 2G. I believe he restored from 2.x firmware to 3.1.2 and now it won't activate. Is he screwed?

Thanks!
I put my iPhone into DFU mode and restored it using redsn0w 7.2 back to the 3.0 firmware. However, I still have the same problem before when the Edge wouldn't work. I have the service, but I just cannot receive it. It says, "Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service" but i am! And also, my note application didn't and still does not work. Any advice?

When You are restoring, create your 2G as new, but don't restore from backup. After synch to put data back. Remember to hit the thanks button if i helped !

Yes You will sync data etc address book, photos, music and videos and app from app store. And You lose all app from cydia and reinstall it back. But you need to synch all data to iTune and before restoring to have it on your computer.
