official unlock question?

hey guys ive been dealing with iphones for a while and i got a spare 8gb 3g sittin around that i picked up for pretty cheap but didnt realize it was already updated to 3.1 (i was told prior to buying it that it was on 3.0.1).

anyway, obviously it cant be unlocked right now via third party like dev team and whatnot. but has anyone gotten at&t to officially unlock their iphone? ive gotten other phones unlocked by calling them and telling them i needed to use it out of country, but i didnt know if they would do the same for the iphone?

AT&T can not unlock the iPhone.
