Unlocking my 3gs i phone

Hi Guys and Girls,

I really need some help on this basically i got an i phone on O2 in the uk contract but when i got home found that i had really bad signal in my area so as gutted as i was i had to give the iphone back to O2. Well i've now got an orange sim card and i went to the Apple shop yesterday and bought a pay as you go Iphone 3GS 16gb, i searched on the net and found 2 companys claiming to be able to unlock them but they were both ripp offs. Basically it is running on 3.1 version and has firmware of 05.11.07 and i need to know exactly what to do to unlock it.
whether i have to downgrade the firmware are not. You'll have to bare with me as im not that clued up on firmware and software.
But any help would be much appreciated.

Well, for the time being you have to wait.. You're out of luck with an out of the box 3gs 3.1/ 5.11.7.. in fact, i am in the same situation...
