Jailbreak Brand new in Box 3GS

I purchased a new 3GS Iphone last week. Unfortunately it has the 3.1 software. I think this happened during the activation process? I have purchased one for my wife that should arrive tomorrow. I don't want to make the same mistake with this phone. What do I need to do when it arrives.

I am using Windows Vista, and my carrier is Virgin Australia.

I don't think you can do anything, but wait until they hacked the 3.1.
All new iphones come with the 3.1 now, so I don't think you upgraded it by mistake. You just have to wait.
