Iphone 2g Activation Help

Hi , i brought a iphone 2g from usa , it has been restored.

i have received it be need help activating it. As I live in the UK i want to use UK sim cards in the phone.

I dont have a at&t sim to activate it with so does anyone know how I can active it without a sim?

It's all over the forums. Just search for how to use redsn0w. Redsn0w will jailbreak and unlock an iPhone 2G for you to use a UK SIM card. Using redsn0w first will activate the phone so you can view the springboard and unlock it for you to use any SIM. If you want to upgrade (not to 3.1, it can't be jailbroken or unlocked at this time) you can do so by downloading the proper firmware for your phone and hitting shift(option)+restore to the firmware you want (be it 3.0 or 3.0.1). If not, then simply jailbreak and you're good to go.

Lol no -.- I'll save you the trouble. Download redsn0w from blog.iPhone-dev.org (click redsn0w.com link on the left) and find the one you want. Run the program, follow the directions. That's it.

the iphone is stuck in FW 2.2 and I cant update to 3.0 because the iphone is stuck on the activation screen , does that matter?

Not really. But the new 3.x is really nice. If you don't care about the new features you can stay on 2.2.1

Thanks for your help , one little problem. Its now just saying ''waiting for reboot'' i have left it for a while but it just stays like that.

Any ideas?

When you're stuck at waiting for reboot unplug your phone then plug it back in. Many people reported that it continues and finishes the processes.

^correct the screen will turn white then settle in and continues the jailbreak so relax and enjoy!

So i bought a iPhone 2G and when i try to activate the phone it makes me change my data plan which i do not want to do is there any way i can activate my 2G iPhone without paying $20 bucks for internet? i need help... Thanks
