Help - 2G Jailbreak & get the error msg " "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone"...

Hello there

I get the following message on Itunes after trying to jailbreak my 2G iphone using both redsn0w and os version of it:

"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"

It goes through the process using redsnow and hangs at "downloading jailbreak data"

tried using mac ox method and it goes through but when it reboots the iphone goes back to the itunes logo and I get the SIM card message so there's no option of doing a restore...


Please help, thank you!

Forgot to add that I'm trying to jailbreak 3.0.

If there's no way to resolve this, is it possible to restore and jailbeak to 2.2.1?

1 - "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone...." = The iPhone is NOT successfully UNlocked
2 - Download FW 3.0 here: iPhone Firmwares download | iPhone Firmware
3 - Read & read the tutorials here: redsn0w. Once done read again.
4 - Restore in iTunes make sure to MANUALLY select the downloaded FW 3.0 (Not 3.0.1)
5 - Make sure!!! to set up the phone as a NEW phone in iTunes (Do NOT use any backup)
6 - Run redsn0w 0.8 downloaded from http://www.quickpwn.com/redsn0w

You should now be having a massive grin on your face.

You are a lifesaver!!! Just for the record - what I was doing wrong was not MANUALLY restoring Itunes - meaning hitting shift then restore. Now I selected 3.0 and voila!

Go to cydia and download unltrasn0W
Go to cydia manage resources and download repository repo666.ultrasn0w.com
the last 0 being a zero in snow
then search cydia for ultrasnow and install the app.
then you will be unlocked.
on the 3G cydia 0.7 and 0.8 will only jailbreak
