ultrasn0w gonna make my phone explode, and totally useless anyway?

Phone details : iPhone 3G 3.0 , redsnow + ultrasnow 0.91-1.

As long as ultra wasn;t installed, my phone batt lasted for 3 days or so. I'm out on vacation, and I installed ultra, batt lasts 5 hours.
I know this is a common problem.

1. Back casing HOT. i'm scared of it blowing apart.
2. Location Services / Fetch / Push / Wifi OFF.
3. When I last formatted my phone, it was setup as a new iphone. (That was about 2 months ago, not recent.)

So what am I missing here?

I don't get it. What's your question? Ultrasn0w is totally useless if you have AT&T... it's totally useful if you're on any other carrier.

ok.. new info : i'm not dumb.

My phone is locked with Rogers Canada, and i'm in India for 2 weeks, hence the use of ultrasn0w.

Question is : I've tried all the techniques I could possibly google. It was setup as a new phone, so the dev-team's answer didn't reeally help either.

Is there another workaround?

What are you asking? Why is is burning up your battery? Did you use the latest version of ultra? If you recently added ultasn0w through Cydia it is the latest version.
Cure, restore, re-jailbreak, install ultra.

Yes, as already mentioned, it is latest ultra version. 0.91-1. Tried uninstalling and re-installing just ultra too. No joy (although, battery burn has reduced a bit).
Why is it still slaughtering my batt?

I was avoiding a new restore (just takes too much time to get everything the way I like it), but I guess there is no other way. It would really suck if it didn't help.

PS - If I do a new restore, should I restore -> jb -> ultra -> setup as new iphone (itunes), or some other order?

Yes correct, restore, setup as new phone, jailbreak, install ultrasn0w, sync to get contacts and music (not from a backup, just sync)
