Stuck in recovery with "Insert a valid SIM"...
Hi guys...
I was running a 2G iPhone on T-mo with 2.2.1 SW and was trying to upgrade to 3.0 SW. Before I started the process, I backed up my iPhone in iTunes. Then I downloaded the latest 3.0.1 SW from iTunes. Then I used Pwnagetool to jailbreak. When it asked me if I had used the Pwnage tool before, I clicked yes. It then told me that I had to go back to iTunes, put my phone in recovery mode and restore. After doing that, I am stuck now with the phone stuck in recovery mode and asking me to Insert valid SIM card with no PIN lock.
Please help!! I am very new to this jailbreaking, updating etc.
Thank you so much!

Use RedSn0w - but you will need the 3.0 ipsw after restoring to 3.01 ands do NOT restore from your backup.

Thanks guys. I was able to get it working again with redsn0w. It appears everything has transferred over fine (had to re-download all my songs to the iPod but I just set that to do it over night.
The one thing that I noticed that is not working is using the T-Mobile Edge network built in the phone. When I try to access it, I get a message saying something like your account is not set up for internet browsing...etc.
It works fine with Wifi...but I need it to work on Edge.
Anyone help me with that?
Thanks again!

there is nothing set in there....I never had to set anything up before. This must be new in 3.0.
Do you know what I need to input for use on T-Mobile's network?

Actually a quick google search had my answer. All I had to do was input epc.tmobile.com into the APN. No username or PW needed. After I did that it worked just fine!!

Cool, but you said in post #6 there was nothing to set there, I assumed you were missing it. That's why I gave you that link. Glad you figured it out.

No prob. What I meant was that there was nothing already programmed on that screen. I do thank you for trying to help!
Anything else quirky about 3.0 that I should know about?
