Default Quick question about Activation/Push Notifications

If I restore my iPhone 3G and activate it properly with an O2 SIM card, then jailbreak and unlock, can I then receive push notifications?

This was my understanding of it all anyway, but I tried it last night and it didn't work, and I'm wondering if maybe I did something wrong, or maybe redsn0w needlessly hacktivated it when it was already activated?

Anyone have an idea how I can get push notifications working if I can officially activate my phone then unlock with ultrasn0w?

My 3G is running on T-Mobile and push works fine with the jailbreak and ultrasn0w unlock.

What did you do to get push working? I have a 3G on tmobile also and Ive tried the push fix and the push guide twice.
