Help Please! Urgent! Mistake upgrading to 3.0 Software
I was getting tired of envying the 3.0 software, so I felt like I should take it upon myself to upgrade.
I WAS running a 2G TMobile 2.2 unlocked/jailbroken iPhone. So I followed the tutorial by iClarified.
(iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.0.x Using RedSn0w (Mac))
All went smooth until Step 11: "Waiting for reboot."
20 min later, I see there has been no progress so I scroll down through the comments to see if anyone had the same problem.
Seeing someone did, a solution was posted saying my Mac needed to be running 10.5.6. I am on 10.4.11 (Late Bloomer?) My iTunes is 8.2 by the way.
ANYWAYS, after seeing that solution, I hit cancel on RedSn0w and my phone seems to be stuck in DFU mode. So through iTunes I restored, thinking after iTunes downloaded 3.01 it would ask if I wanted to upload my backup. (The backup that was working fine - 2.2)
Of course, it did not. So now I'm stuck with iTunes saying "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported."
My phone is of great value to me and rapid help would be appreciated. If there is a way to get me using the 3.0 software then GREAT. But, I will be satisfied and appreciative if I can just get it functioning on 2.2 once again. Thank you in advance very much.

I suggest you DFU, restore ((as new)) and run redsn0w again to hacktivate it.
Do not use a backup, this will only cause tons of problems.
If redsn0w gets stuck unplug the USB for 3 seconds and then plug it back in. This usually forces the process to continue.
Since your on 3.0.1 you should use the 3.0 .ipsw not the 3.0.1 .ipsw

So download the 3.01 IPSW?
And use RedSn0w with that one?
And on the reboot step if it gets stuck again just pull out and push it back in DURING THE PROCESS?
This error has nothing to do with me being on 10.4?Last edited by kingofburroughs; 08-26-2009 at 11:25 PM.

No, use 3.0 .ipsw even though you are on 3.0.1
Yes, if it gets stuck, remove USB for about 3 seconds and plug it back in.
You should be fine I believe.

DFU mode
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Turn off iPhone
Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it detects iPhone in restore/recovery mode.
Alternative Method:
Step 1. Connect iPhone to USB then listen to the sound when it connects and disconnects.
Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.
Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

I did that 5 times, but surprisingly it worked when I read your post. -_- I feel like an idiot.
So now just click restore on itunes and let it do its thing?

Alright, here goes something? Loll.
Btw, my Tmobile SIM card is out of my iPhone now, is that going to affect it?

You should have the T Mo sim in during the whole process.

Crap. Should I cancel the iTunes restore (In progress), insert, and repeat?

naw, you should be fine, when iTunes finishes you may get a emergency calls only screen, just run redsn0w after that.

I followed the unplugging of the usb cord, plugged back, phone screen went white and viola! :]
Finished with Redsn0w apparently, and on the iPhone screen there is a walking pineapple and it's going through a process.
Hopefully I'll be using 3.0 with Tmobile after it's done. =/

Amazing. :] Wow, thank you so much.
All my app's are gone, but I don't mind so much.
As for my contacts, do I have to manually redo them?
