    Default WARNING!! AT&T Bug!!!

Got an unpleasant surprise today - an additional $564 on my AT&T bill.

This was Data charges.... (as I am not on an unlimited plan)

But, the thing is that I have been on this plan for 4 years and NO data charges until now!!

The iPhone is Unlocked and has the APN set to "FAKE" and User to "FAKE" and Password "FAKE" - hence AT&T should not allow the iPhone onto the Internet. I checked but it did connect!

I called AT&T and spent a good 1½ hour with them until they finally backed off!

The thing AT&T is not advertising is that YOU CAN request total EDGE/3G/Data block on your account - and then there is no way for them to charge you. And you MAY use any PHONE (iPhone or not).

Hope that saves some of you a few $ and time...

Don't you love AT&T? .50 cent's a MB if you don't have a data plan. It's no bug either. You're supposed to have a data plan and obviously your iPhone was acessing something over the cellular data network. Check your usage.

    Lovely

    Not

    Default Worse than 50c/Mb

Actually they tried to charge me 1c/Kb => $10 per Mb + taxes and crap

BTW - it is a BUG. Otherwise I would not have managed to make AT&T back-off. And luckily I know about how the data network is supposed to work....
