Unlocked 2g Iphone AT&T sent me a text

I have an unlocked iphone and am using my sim from my old phone that has medianet $15 version. I just received a text from AT&T telling me that I need to switch to the iphone plan. How did they find out that I am using an iPhone? Can i fix this so that they don't know?

tell them to go stick a boot in the ***** they cant do anything. as long as your internet it working on your iphone with no problems they cant do nothing

First off, this question has been asked and answered TONS of times on here.

Secondly, yes they CAN do something, they can add the iphone data plan, as its a requirement to have when using an iphone on their network.

If you phone is activated, its IMEI is broadcasted to them, thats how they know.

Correct^ and if you went to Tmobile the IMEI will also show and tmobile will know your using an iphone as well and suggest 34 or 24 buck data plan too! My advice to get around this is get on a prepaid att gophone activate it thru the kit and insert the sim in the iphone enough said!
