O2 iPhone 3GS

If i buy an iPhone 3GS which is obviously O2 locked in the UK, will i still need to jailbreak it and unlock it or can i just jailbreak it to get past the activation and put my sim in without unlocking.... I will be to using an O2 sim card...

I believe you need to unlock, otherwise the phone just picks it up as "invalid sim"

not true, if you are using an o2 sim card you can just put it in ur iphone (i no as my gf is doing so). They are locked to o2, which means any o2 sim card will do.

just use redsn0w to jailbreak and your good togo.
You can also use ultasn0w on 3.0 if u require

Can I activate it using that sim or will i need to jailbreak it before I use that sim....

You can activate using that sim, then you cam jailbreak later on if you want
