iPhone 3GS issues
|
Activate is not jailbreak is not unlock.
Now the problem I have with my 32GB 3GS seems like it may be a combination of all three so i hope this is in the right thread and all help is appreciated.
I'm from the caribbean and I had a friend who had a factory unlocked iPhone 3G. When he jailbrokewith dev team tools, he was having problems with receiving incoming calls.
I on the other hand have a 32GB iPhone 3GS and I first jailbroke with Purplera1n for mac and unlocked with purplesn0w RC2. I still have an active AT&T SIM card that the phone came with and that is what I used to activate to to the unlock seeing that purplesn0w does not do work with hacktivation. My iPhone worked for a couple hours but then I stopped receiving incoming calls. However, text and everything else works fine, though text does reach late.
It's a bit puzzling: I turned push notification turned off and all the suggestions that everyone made but none worked. Every SIM that I put in the iPhone does not receive calls but in other iPhones and regular phones, they worked well. I even put my SIM in other phones and iPhones as well and those phones rang when they got incoming calls.
The iPhone ran hot too. So I did dfu a bunch of times, hoping to get reception after applying the unlock with fail everytime.
I eventually tried the dev team's stuff.
Redsn0w. Ultrasn0w.
While the iPhone still does not get incoming calls, it runs cooler and the battery lasts noticably longer.
However, there is one thing I observed, after I did dfu prior to purplera1n and purplesn0w, I ejected the AT&T SIM in the iPhone. While the SIM was out, the phone appeared to not have lost service until about a minute after and then the 'No Sim Card Inserted" message showed. Even when I put back in my local Digicel SIM, the message did not go away. However, when I applied the ultrasn0w unlock after the redsn0w jailbreak, it appeared to be working fine. Fine in terms of when a SIM card is ejected, it immediately displays the message and loses signal and when a new sim is reinserted, it gets a signal. But it still does not receive phone calls.
Is my baseband damaged that's why I can't receive incoming calls? Whatever caused the delay in the 'No SIM Card Inserted' message, could that be fixed in the next iPhone OS update where there is a new modem version number? Because I need to know if I should send the iPhone back to my cousin for him to send it to the apple store and get it replaced.
