    Default Activating and Unlocking with iTunes 8

    Ok - So I just got my friend's old iPhone and I need to activate it and unlock it. I've been following the directions - got the phone restored and downloaded the appropriate applications. However when I go to run iNdependence it tells me it isn't compatible with the iTunes 8 on this computer. Help.

    What do I do?

    Wow iNdependence?

    If you are using iTunes 8 you would need to restore to the latest firmware (3.0) and use redsn0w (Apple Forums & iPhone Forums, Mods, Hacks, News, Themes, Downloads, and more! | ModMyi.com - Downloads - redsn0w Windows 0.8) to jailbreak and unlock it. That is for a 2G phone. If it is a 3G/S you would need to do all of that and then install Ultrasn0w (http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-...-released.html).
