Failed Jailbreak/Unlock on Original iPhone 4GB; Locked Up
Hi out there-
Want to help an iPhone novice?? -
I have an original iPhone 4GB I got from an friend who upgraded. I upgraded the OS to 3.0 on iTunes. I then followed modmyi's guide for jailbreaking/installing on an original iPhone using a Windows-based notebook.
It seemed to work. i could access the main menu, as well as email and youtube over a router.
Then I clicked on Cydia (spelling?). It told me there was a failure in the jailbreak and that I needed to reset, then rerun Redsnow. On the phone I went to the settings menu, then chose to clear out the phones settings and data. The screen said it would take about an hour. After running thru the program, it went to a screen showing only the apple in the center. My friend just showed me how to do a hard shutdown by holding both buttons down at the same time, so now it's off.
QUESTIONS:
1)so how do I go about restoring to 3.0 and retrying the jailbreak?
2)does the Guide have the current/correct version of Redsnow?
Thanks so much for any help. I'm truly a novice on the iPhone!

Just put it into DFU mode using this guide below and restore in iTunes:
How To: Enter DFU Restore Mode - ModMyi - Wiki
Use redsn0w 0.8. It is the latest one and should be the most stable.
