Hello- question.
Hello everyone!
Im new to the forums so let me salute all of you to start with.
Now, the reason why im here. I have a question about the 8GB, $100 Iphone:
Can you unlock it to use with Tmobile?
and Will you be able to do what you do with your regular tmobile phone?
Calls (duh)
texting
send pictures
etc.
Im not your yoda when it comes to this kind of stuff, but im hoping to learn all about it soon!
Thanks in advance, and you guys have a great day.
Oh,this just struck me: How do you keep your phone number and contacts without a SIM card? Or does the Iphone does have a SIM card slot?

If you're referring to a 3Gs phone I'm pretty sure you can unlock at this point. All other models have been unlocked.
Calls - Yes
texting - Yes
send pictures - Yes but the method depends on what FW you're on. For FW 3.0 you can do it natively (within the built in messaging app from Apple) if you download the active2mms package from Cydia. I think that's what it's called. For other FWs you're going to have to use SwirlyMMS, a third party app.
The iPhone does use a sim. However, contacts don't import automatically. You can download apps that will do this for you from Cydia. I vaguely remember a setting that does this with the new FW but I'm not sure. Hopefully someone will chime in on this one.
Hope this helps.

The $100 price is only with a 2 year contract from AT&T

Our forum has a buy/sell/trade section, or Craig list/eBay. Or you can buy a new 3G[s] from AT&T without a contract, big bucks.

Officially unlocked or ultra/purple -sn0wed? If it's official, then pretty cheap, if sn0wed, then I guess pricey, but keep in mind that apple sells their LOCKED 3GS iphones for $599/$699 without a contract.
The 3GS is the $200/300 ones, but that's only the price with a 2 year contract (fun!) with AT&T
The official off-contract price in the US is $599 for the 16GB and $699 for the 32GB, and they're still locked to AT&T

Still cheaper than the UK where they are £440/£540 that's about $720/$880
And they're locked to O2

We have VAT (currently 15% but likely to go up to 19% at the end of the year) but all prices are quoted incl. of VAT

Oh wow. Here in CA we have 9.25% (just went up from 8.25/7.75) but it's added on top of the sticker price on pretty much anything you buy.

here in the UK adverts prices for the general public must be shown including VAT. If a company is selling to other companies it can show prices nett of VAT as other companies can generally claim the VAT back but all shops and web sites showing prices show the price you actually pay

Do you get the ".99" to make it seem smaller too?
Recently the "99 cent store" has become the "99.99" cent store.. if I buy 100 things I save a penny!I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something
