Not recognizing sim card

I bought a IPhone 2G 16 GB running firmware 3 that has been unlocked and jailbroken. When i put my sim card from my t-mobile phone that i currently have into iphone it doesn't recognize sim card when phone is hooked up to itunes. When phone is not hooked up to itunes it shoes a usb cord and a slider bar to make an emergency call. What do i need to do here?

It sounds like the unlock didn't work.

Can I restore phone and use a different program to unlock and jailbreak phone? Or does it have to be the same? Thanks
