Can not restore data in my 2g after upgrading to 3.0

I upgraded my 2g to 3.0. everything went fine. but when i tried to restore my synced data. Instead of restarting the phone opened the apple screen with a status bar below it.
(the screen which is normally shown while restoring/upgrading)
the status bar goes till half and then it hangs. I tried several times but no luck. Can anyone help???

Have you tried downloading a new copy of 3.0 and trying it then?

Ok got it restored.
Here is what i did. just to share if someone experiences the same thing.

When the ITUNES completed the syncing(restore) of back up DATA . I did not wait for it to restart the phone. I just plugged it out from the PC and re started manually. strange but worked for me
