iPhone 3G S Activation

My aunt in the US just bought a new iphone 3gs at apple store that cost me $657.40. i don't open the box yet and i believe it's locked and not yet activated. i'm here in the philippines right now and i just wanna ask what are the preparations i should make to activate, jailbrek and unlock the new iphone. please help me. thank you very much!
