Custom Firmware NEED HELP PLEASE

This maybe a stupid question but i currently have an iPhone 3G which I bought locked to O2, it is Firmware 2.2.1 and BaseBand 2.30, i am using rebel sim to unlock to the 3 UK network but i cant make or recieve calls and have no 3G connection :S, what I was wondering is that if I download a custom firmware with the baseband preserved at the 2.28 or whatever yellowsn0w can unlock would this change my baseband or not?

Thanks in advance Josh

Nope..

Upgrade to 3.0, jailbreak with RedSn0w and unlock with UltraSn0w. No SIM adapter needed..

Enjoy
