    Default Getting a 3G iPhone

I am getting a 3G Phone running 2.2.1 (I believe) he said it is jailbroken but not unlocked.

How do I unlock the 3G phone-I understand it is different from the 2G's
    What all o I need?

    My 2G phone is unlocked

If the baseband is 2.28. then you can use yellows0wn to unlock the phone. But if the baseband is 2.30.03 you will not be able to unlock the phone, unless the bootloader is 5.08, then you will be able to downgrade the baseband to 2,28.

How will I be able to tell the base band? I will be picking the phone up tomorrow and I need to be sure it is workable with my service.

Not sure how to check what the version of the bootloader is but to get the baseband you go to:

settings -> general -> about -> scroll to the bottom if the modem firmware is 2.28 then you're good to unlock.

If the other phone has 2.2.1 with 2.30.03 baseband and bootloader 5.09 you will not be able to unlock it yet.
