    Default Interesting unlocked 2g iphone

I had unlocked my original 2g iphone(original command line method) and for some reason... It stays unlocked and activated regardless if i simply update or restore or anything i can do to it through iTunes and regardless of the iTunes version.

What baseband is it running? Since a year ago from 2.0 > 2.0.1 > 2.0.2 > 2.1 > 2.2 > 2.2.1 these all run the same baseband, 4.05.04, and therefore will remain unlocked no matter what.

The 2G remains unlocked as they don't change the BB.

Activation can be a problem though...

I know the unlock sticks, but how does it remain activated regardless of the firmware update i'm using? It's interesting nonetheless. I wonder if it can be of any use to hardcore iphone modders.

    Did you upgrade or restore?

Upgrade might keep your activation but will almost certainly cause all sorts of problems.
When you start getting problems do a restore but if things are working OK for you at the moment - enjoy
