activate iphone on prepaid sim

i just got a used 2g iphone from ebay and i got got a prepaid phone from att.com with sim and i was wonderin what i need to do to activate phone. do i just stick the sim in my iphone or do i need to unlock and jailbreak to get the preppaid sim to work

If your on AT&T no need to unlock. You can activate your 2g and then Jailbreak it.
