Missing Application Names

I have a 2G 8GB iPhone with 2.1 firmware. Phone has been working great since I unlocked and jailbroke it about a year ago or so. Today I lost all my application names under the icons. It was working fine today but I was about to send a text and no names??????? I dont even get the "X" that lets you erase the application when they are wiggling.
