Low Signal (Reception) on iPhone 3G using YellowSn0w 0.9.8

Hello all,
I have an iPhone 3G that was originally on the Rogers Network in Canada.
I JB it and have FW 2.2 running with YellowSn0w 0.9.8 installed, and now run it on the FIDO network.
I am constantly getting bad reception, even when compared to an identical iPhone 3G running on the same fido network (not unlocked.
Could this problem be caused by YelloSn0w or it is a hardware issue. If the latter, if I restore to original settings and take it to the genius bar, will they replace the phone?

P.S. I am not using 3G or edge. Neither is the identical phone.
