i recently bought a gevey 3g sim card. my iphone is 2.2.1 firmware, 2.30 baseband. I insereted the gevey card with my sim and then i put it in my iphone and the invalid sim just flashed on my screen for like 1 second. then i went to settings and i can't see the carrier option below wi-fi. help please!
if you watch that video you see "invalid sim" message pop up and you have to press ok. Mine just pops up for a second and disappears.
Also, when they go to settings, they see "carrier" next to the wi fi option, where as i don't have that, and when i pop my gevey adapter and my sim card, i get the 1 second invalid sim message and i where the signal is i see 0 bars
I bought one off ebay for a couple bucks and it works great, no problems, no dropped calls, interwebz work better than my 2G without a sim adapter.
And yes I have 2.30 too This is the one I bought.
Have use a RebelSim on 2.2.1 with 2.30.03 and worked just like it should.
But sure, no matter which one you get, I'm pretty sure you will find problems here and there, but that's just the risk you take.
About the Carrier button that zhu_dawg was talking about.
I know what you mean and when there is no signal it would disappear, then come back once in signal, this is why you would not be seeing it, because it has not been connected to any Carrier.
For other people who still don't know where to find this or just didn't not understand from what zhu_dawg said, The Carrier Tab/Button is located under Settings > Carrier, That's it.
