3G jailbreak activation

so when i jailbreak... i have to uncheck "activate" so that i can actually have service.. correct?
but if i uncheck that.. how is the phone gonna activate and how will i be able to use it if it isnt activated?
i dont have an AT&T sim..

If you are not an AT&T subscriber you use the activate button to bypass iTunes activation. This only allows you get past the "slide for emergency" screen. You still have to have a valid T-Mobile SIM card to use the phone part.

I know what im doing...
but when i jailbreak the 3G with the activate button checked...
it wont give me service....
i googled it and people are saying to uncheck the activate box to fix it
but if i dont check it... how is it gonna get activated?... << thats my question

If you re not an at&t user,you have to check the activation box as Poseidon said.If not,you re doing something wrong...
