Should then I just restore and update automatically then run the pwnage because with iclarified says to restore it to their file but it wont let me do that. It only gives an option to restore and update even if I press shift with it which will then update to the locked version after restoring. I'm kind of a newb with these type of things and just want to be clear so I wont jailbreak my iphone.

If you follow the steps at iClarified exactly it should work. What step are you having problems with and what exactly is the problem?

When selecting shift and restore it doesnt give an option to restore it to iclarified file that it had me download, only allows to restore and automatically update to new mac locked software for at&t. I've done this before and worked but it allowed me to restore to iclarified update file via itunes last time but wont this time which may be that I updated itunes. Just want to know by restoring software and updating to locked software wouldnt jailbreak my phone. I know the steps afterwards just wanted to know this. Thanks.

If you are using Windows and hold down Shift when you click restore it asks you to select the ipsw file - are you saying this is not happening or just that you can't find the file?

Bl 5.8

3rd, 4th and 5th digits of my iphone serial number are 531 and the
phone is being restored to 2.2.1 and modem firmware is 2.30.03

As i have read in forum that if we preserved the bootloader, which means that while restoring it asks for it ? whereas the usual procedure i know of is just select the .ipsw and ur phone get upgraded.

I am trying to explore if my BL is still preserved to 5.8 so that i can downgraded my BB to 2.28 back to unlock the phone.

thanks !

The 3rd digit is the year so if yours is 5 then it was made in 2005....
Assuming it was meant to be an 8 then your phone will have BL 5.09 unless the first two digits are 5K

If you are unsure just dowload Fuzzy and try it - it will soon tell you!

When I hold shift its not allowing me to select the ipsw file it just acts like I never pressed it.

bricked even tho i followed instructions

Hi, new to this. Wanted to upgrade the firmware on my hacked iphone so i googled all the lit to make sure it wouldn't brick. I read several posts from different sites that stated hitting restore would wipe my phone, upgrade it and start me from scratch as if I had just opened the box.

Now however, it gives me a SIM error and I am wondering if there are any ways to fix the lock on the sim? Otherwise it looks like my option is to request a new sim from Rogers (canada) and hope it will activate.

I have an original iphone 1.1.2 was the firmware and held out on updating it for obvious reasons. My itunes is 8.1

HELP!

Send a message via AIM to blkcadi

I found this vid, give it a try couldn't hurt.
No need to get a new sim, that's not the prob.

Let us know if it works.

Right off the bat, no because his screen allows him to access his home page and widgets, whereas mine is stuck at the 'connect cord to iTunes' graphic.

and when I use QuickPwn on it, iTunes shows recovery option but the phone is blank with no response to buttons being pressed.
