Hi guys,
I am about to purchase a 3G IPhone from Japan. As always is the case, there would be some contractual obligation with a specific Telecom operator.
Basically, I want to use that phone in india. could anybody please tell me is it possible to unlock the 3GIPhone and use it in India. Also I have heard after unlocking an IPhone, it doesnt run all its functionalities. Is it true?

it wont change anything about the phone except that it will allow you to use it with a different gsm carrier

if you have the modem firmware 2.28 you will be able to jailbreak and use yellowsn0w to unlock it

if the modem fw is 2.30 you may still be able to downgrade the version if your bootloader is still 5.8

if that doesnt work you will need to get a you a piggyback sim adapter
