Default Can I get rid of my turbo sim?

Hi. I have an iPhone 3G 16 GB. It is unlocked with a turbo sim and works fine. The firmware is 2.2.1. I would like to get rid of the turbo sim and use sofware unlocking so I will be able to update to firmware 3.0 when it will be availabe. Can I do that?
    Thank you in advance.

It depends on what your baseband is. Go into Settings-General-About then scroll down to Modem Firmware. If it is 2.28 you can, if it is 2.30 yo need your Turbo Sim until that baseband gets a software unlock.

This is true unless his 2.2.1 was a custom firmware made with Pwnage that preserved the older baseband. That is why I had him check to see which basebans was on his phone.
