If its baseband is 2.30.03,you can jailbreak but not unlock it with software(yellowsnow). At that time you can try turbo sim with it...

    Thanks dejawoo,

But if I have baseband 02.28 , I should be able to Jailbreak & unlock it BEFORE ACTIVATING!, Yes?

If it is with the new baseband you will need an sim card. I have got mine from here Unlock iPhone 3G - Instant Unlock any iPhone. Incl 2.2.1
If you are trying the software jailbreak/unlock you can activate it while doing it with pwnage tool.
