Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could clarify if I'm on the right track here. I want to upgrade to 1.1.4, I currently have:

Version: 1.1.1 (3A109a)
Firmware: 04.01.13_G

Do I just restore through itunes, once the 1.1.4 firmware is installed, I run ziphone 2.5 and unlock, jailbreak, activate option?

exactly.easy and fast.just set up iphone once done as a new iphone.then sync your stuff back.dont restore from previous backup

those are the correct steps, should only take you 5 minutes and viola....

Yup. Just did un upgrade to 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 with the ziphone version 2.5. Restore using the 1.1.4 firmware, then run ziphone and that is it. Donate afterwards, like it did.

my friend has an unlocked iphone that is still on 1.1.1. I have a 16GB iphone that is on AT&T and jailbroken. I have shown him all the newer features of the 1.1.4 interface and he wants to upgrade.

Since he's unlocked how does he start the process to get to 1.1.4?

Does he need to virginize the phone first? or can he just do a restore as the OP stated and have ZiPhone U, J, A?

Can it be this easy? Looking for confirmation before we start on this today.

just update through itunes, download ziphone 2.5

he will have to use the do it all feature on ziphone

ok thanks. Will this need to be done without the TMobile sim in the iPhone? I remember previously we had an issue with the IMEI number thing.

Sorry to ask again,

pointed 1.1.1 iphone at http://jailbreakme.com/ install AppSnapp.
Succesfully activated phone
installed anysim, unlocked phone.

again mine is the same 1.1.1 (3A109a) out of the box, jailbroken and unlocked with any sim using the above method.

So just restore using itunes then use ZiPhone to do the lot? Do I not need to do anything like Virginise the baseband, etc, etc.

Sorry just don't to break my phone.

k I'm gonna simplify this for u andy...pay attention!!

Step 1. Call your friend and ask him to bring his iPhone with him.
Step 2. Download ziphone 2.5
Step 3. Go to ur kitchen, make tea...for yourself and ur friend...always be a good host....its a good thing.
Step 4. Wait for your not so punctual friend.
Step 5. Once he comes over, inform him about the importance of being punctual in life...
Step 6. Take his prized iphone from him, ask him to trust that u are the One.
Step 7. Connect his phone to itunes via usb. Dont add, prepare or remove anything. Straight fon his pocket or hand or whatever...
Step 8. Hit the restore button. You may want to setup his iphone as a new iphone on itunes before u hig restore. That way u can sync everything important back to your iphone after ur done upgrading to 1.1.4. Things like your calendar dates and entries, contacts, bookmarks wont be lost. U can simply restore these after the upgrade.
Step 9. Chill out a bit. Drink that tea u made, give some to ur friend. Joke about wiseasses and how dumb they actually are. Do all this till your restore completes.
Step 10. Quit itunes, run ziphone and hit the do it all button.
Step 11. Chill out a little more. Enjoy ur existence and all u have, and all that u'll aquire.
Step 12. Unplug your newly upgraded iphone. Feel good about life. Show off
to women. Generally enjoy!!
Step 13. Try and forgive my blasphemy.
