Hi joefx13, I'm quite a newbie to the whole SSH thing but I am pretty knowledgeable in unlocking and jailbreaking iphones/ipod touch
I basically want to install yellowsn0w 0.9.6...I was following your directions but I realize that it was for windows.
Can you provide a step-by-step tutorial in installing yellowsn0w 0.9.6 to the iphone 3g using MAC OSX?
I'm a newbie at this and I really need help.
My e-mail address is [email protected]
Thanks

I also have a 8gb 3g, and yesterday evening my phone went into Airplane mode, and now it either goes between no service, or no signal bars at all, I am using this phone with T-Mobile, it has been unlocked and Jailbroken. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure why my buddy is using the 0.9.6, but the phone was working perfectly yesterday, then went to Airplane Mode, and has not regained service since, so I'm stuck using a Blackberry Pearl Flip until I can find a way to fix the issue with my iphone, I have used Blackberry since they first came out, and I have always loved them, but I got my hands on this iphone, and now I'm going nuts without it!! I use Windows, is there anything I can do, or should I have my buddy do it. He uses a Macbook, and I don't even know where to start.

Uninstall yellowsn0w... reset network settings... re-install yellown0w 0.9.7.. put your SIM back in and reboot.

Alright, So I found a WiFi connection, and then updated Yellowsn0w, then I rebooted the phone, and signal came back, only thing is, is now the phone is saying I still have to internet connection. Not sure what the problem could be now. I did make sure to test the browser, Cydia, app store, and all of the "internet" apps with and without WiFi on, and it did work, but now it's not.?? However, thank you Joefx13, tosbsas, and Poseidon79, for the input, it did fix my original issue. Greatly appreciated.

Its probably not working because you might have rebooted the phone. With yellowsn0w .7 it will turn wifi off every time you reboot the phone. So make sure to switch it back on manually evertime you turn it off and on.

If you didn't include the !, I would think you were asking a question. Since you are making a statement, I would ask that you investigate a bit beforehand.
It's simple, running 2.2 with 0.9.6 yellowsnow has proven to be stable and reliable. People running 2.2.1 with 0.9.7 or 0.9.8 are receiving a number of errors, going into airplane mode, etc.
As such, people want to go back to 2.2 (easy enough), and install 0.9.6 so they can once again be stable without issues.
Unfortunately, you cannot simply install 0.9.6 through Cydia, since only the most recent updated version is available. And thus, this is why people are installing the 0.9.6.
Next time, please just ask a question with the ?, and consider that perhaps some people know what they're talking about.
