So i just bought my 3g off ebay and it came with a passcode...clearly i have no idea what it is so i begane to do a system restore and i get to the point where it is downlading the software and right as it is about to finish it gives me an error code and stops, ive tried four times with the same result?? is there a diffrent program or smething i can do to get this done, i paid good money for this thing and i cant even use it, i cant even get onto my i tunes with out knowing the code

What program are you running and what's the error?

Also if you search, there is another thread that tells you how to SSH into your phone and you can find the passcode somewhere in there.

i tried to do the double tap threw the emergency call setup and it didnt work, the previous owner must not have had his hotkey or whatever it is set up from that.. and ive been using the search but i cant seem to find anything specific to what im asking.. sorry im not much of a tech guru when it comes to things like this lol im a mechanic... if it doesnt have a transmission strapped to it i dont know how to fix it.. i am currently downloading the newest version of firmware will that help?? can i restore my phone with that?

yes it is at&t phone. i just got done downloading a new version of firmware, and it is "restoring now" well see if it works now.. if not do you have a link to where i can get to the passcode info? thx for your help by the way, i hate to ask noob ?S but its the only wat to learn lol

ok so the restore worked, the problm now is that i cant access the phone without a sim card. is there a way around that ide like to see the features and play around with it before i activate a plan.

If your iPhone has been activated,you can use all iPhone functions without a SIM card - except for any phone related functions.But you need a sim card to activate it...
