My phone is bricked 2.2 2G

Hi,

I accidently restored my 2G iphone 2.2 from 2.1. There was something wrong with my iPod software on my iphone and it could not open up. Then I realized fter doing that it kept asking for my PIN passcode. I type it in and nothing shows up but a page saying I need to use the correct SIM card.

Then I tried Pwnage and followed everything to create the custom IPSW and upon installing there was an error (21).

Is my phone bricked? How do I get out. I went to restore mode again and reinstalled 2.2 from Itunes and the same error comes up.

Please help as I need my phone for work tomorrow

Just put your phone into DFU mode and restore. After the restore use quickpwn to jailbreak/unlock.

Hello HiFlyer

I have just restored using iTunes 8 from Apple's own restore/download install..

And then I used the Pwnage software to custom create a ipsw file and then tried to do a DFU mode. Not sure why it might not be doing it... it keeps asking for SIM card passcode. Anyway, I put it on recover mode and pressed options + restore (mac) to pick the custom ipsw file I just created but error shows up after trying to restore.

Is there anyway to bypass when iphone asks me to type in the passcode for the current SIM card. Is it better just to take out the SIM card for installation?

Ok here is the issue:

1.Restored iPhone from iTunes 8
2.Itunes then asks SIM card password pop up
3.Then when I ok another pop up appears saying it doesn't recognize the iPod (yes iPod!)
4.iPhone says SIM Locked - Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone
5.I tried unlocking SIM previously, and then it says that I need a proper SIM card (I guess AT&T)
6. iPhone connects to iTunes with a big page saying this SIM is not supported.
7. Use Qwkpwn
8. After custom ISPW then DFU mode
9. "QuickPwn is about to run on your iPhone"
10. The SIM PIN is required window is pop up again but I don't want to press OK as it might ruin the installation.
11. "QuickPwn is about to run on your iPhone" is not moving for the last 15 minutes...

Since Quickpwn is not moving, I finally clicked the pop up from iTunes. Then iTunes pop up saying "AN iPod has been detected but it could not be identified properlu/ Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod then try again. AN unknown error occurrred (2001).

And QUickpwn is still running with nothing happening on the progress bar...

Here what you can do: (Windows is easier than Mac. This guide is for windows)

1. Take your sim card out, turn on airplan mode (to bypass all the pin code crap)
2. plug the iphone into the computer. To make sure, plug the cable into a different usb port.
3. Press and hold POWER + HOME button, (the phone to turn black with apple logo) UNTIL you see the the picture of a cable and cd appear. Now you are in RESTORE mode. (This has to be done while plugged into the computer, otherwise it wont work)
4. Open itune on computer, itune will detect a device in restore mode. Now just click RESTORE. Itunes will download the 2.2 firmware from apple and install it.
5. After finishing restore. Download and run QUICKPWN 2.2 (windows) Make sure to check UNLOCK (you will also need to download BL 3.9 and BL4.6, in order to use quickpwn to unlock your 2G iphone, Google it if you cant find it)
6. AFter everything done, you have freshly restored unlocked iphone 2G.

7. Put your sim back in, if it ask for PIN code, then its the sim problem, not the phone. If you forgot the pin code, call the carrier and ask them..

Hope this help!

On the Mac Quikpwn there is no question to say unlock. Can someone using Mac confirm this?
Where does it say UNLOCK?

Also I cannot go into AIRPLANE mode since I can't get past the main screen for SIM Password...

I even tried my wifes SIM card without passcode and it just opens up to a blank page with the info text about not supporting the SIM.

UPDATE:

I fixed the problem. Apparently it is the new Itunes and I had to downgrade to 8.01 and it worked.
