In short, yes. If you go to Italy in an area where 3G is available, you'll have access to 3G.

The newer version detects the network MUCH faster so if you're prone to rebooting and respringing all the time from modding your phone it's beneficial to upgrade to the 0.9.6.

I am using my unlocked 3G with T-Mobile, what's funny is it was working from the start because when I unlocked it I installed the T-Zones hack...but T-Mobile doesn't have the T-Zones plan anymore, so I uninstalled it... then I called T-Mobile to install a plan and talked to their unsupported phone department he wanted to put the APN in there but the 2.2 doesn't allow it.... My phone no longer went online via the network until I reinstalled T-Zones... so even if you don't have the T-Zones plan install the hack...

As I understand it, the 3G service for T-Mobile operates on a different frequency than AT&T 3G so I'm not sure if the 3G for T-Mobile will work?

I installed yellowsn0w 0.9.5 and had ok results but had a few problems getting it back after a reboot.

Just upgraded to 0.9.6, rebooted straight away I got - searching, then after a few sec got Vodafone UK.

Top stuff well done dev team thats for your continued work to get this improved!!!!

I finally upgraded to 2.2 and quickpwnd it. However I had to drive around the block from my apt. to pick up a wifi single coming from a used car dealership in order from me to install yellowsn0w. LOL!

Luckily after I installed, it picked up my Tmobile signal within seconds...I was freezing my butt off!

I'm having a problem here. I upgraded and jailbroke 2.2 used the newest yellowsn0w but I keep losing my signal. I am on T-Mobile and the the phone keeps searching for signal. And when it does have signal it shows full bars but I cannot make calls. Any ideas?
