Confused about using Yellowsn0w with Gervey 3G

Ok so I have a 3G (2.1)jailbroken unlocked iphone using a Gervey 3G sim adaptor. I bought the sim adaptor off ebay and when FW 2.2 was released I was emailed by the company I bought the adaptor from telling me NOT to upgrade to 2.2 or else I won't be able to unlock my phone.

So the question is, don't I have to have access to edge in order for me to access Cydia to install yellowsn0w?? I won't have edge connectivity because upgrading to 2.2 will render my Gervey 3G useless.

I want to use the soft unlock but I'm really confused how to go about this. A little help please??

do you have access to wifi? You can download yellowsnow using wifi anywhere.

the software unlock only works with firmware 2.2 with baseband 2.28 so, even if you download yellowsn0w it would be of no use to you. so just wait until the makers of Gervey sim inform you on what to do or (2)Restore your iphone to 2.2 and jailbreak it with quickpwn then install yellowsn0w to soft unlock it.
