Traveling to Ireland... will this work?

I have a 1st gen, jailbroken, v. 2.1. I realize I need to unlock it, but in terms of traveling to Ireland for a week, will this be sufficient and work as long as I keep it on airplane mode? Or is there something else?

If you have a first generation model with firmware 2.1, you don't need any SIM adapter, just software unlock it with Pawnage 2.1 or QuickPwn 2.1
